Easy and Delicious Banana, Chocolate and Orange Loaf

May 2, 2013

Whilst on delivery from Spain I made this cake for tea one night. Uncle Phil decided he wouldn’t like it and turned down a piece but Dad encouraged him to try a bit and he was hooked! We’ve also had it in a picnic this week on the beach as it keeps well and with the orange drizzle it doesn’t dry out – we did have it without the cream though.

  • 100g butter
  • 100g sugar
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 banana, mashed
  • 100g self raising flour
  • 50g dark chocolate, broken into small chunks
  • juice of 1 orange mixed with 3 tsp sugar

  • Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Centigrade.
  • Line a small loaf tin with baking paper.
  • Cream the butter and sugar together in a bowl.
  • Beat in the eggs and banana.
  • Stir in the flour and chocolate chunks.
  • Pour into the tin and bake for about 30 minutes until golden and risen and a skewer comes out clean when inserted.
  • Remove from the oven and leave in the tin.
  • Poke holes all over with a skewer.
  • Pour over the orange juice and sugar and leave to cool.
