Sailing Holidays in the Italian Riviera: Autumn is in the Air

October 15, 2012

Another week has flown by and we’re now mid-October! That means I’ve had my birthday and become the proud owner of a beautiful new bag and purse, we have less than a week left in Genoa and it’s less than 2 weeks to the wedding! I’ve upped the running-can now do over 5 miles in about 48 minutes-and the Wii Fit instructor continues to tell me my ‘legs are wobbling’ in nearly every exercise (I think they should have an ‘on-the-boat’ setting!).

This week we had our engine serviced. It is amazing to think it’s already done over 1000 hours work, especially when the handbook says ‘these parts should be changed every 1000 hours or every 4 years’!! Our log is looking healthy too with over 7000 miles clocked up and the delivery guys will be adding to that in a week’s time as they sail down to Tenerife.

In the coming week our fridge will be fixed. The compressor has developed a leak meaning that the gas used to run and cool the fridge is all leaking out and the fridge doesn’t get cold. Once that’s done we have the engine guys coming back to finish the oil change in the sail drive and the Raymarine guy coming with a new VHF (warranty again!) and then it’s time for cooking! I like to know the delivery guys will eat well even if it’s rough, so I will be making freezer meals for them: Shepherd’s pies, Chicken Pies, Curry, lasagne and Sausage and bean hotpot…

Then all that’s left to do is give the inside a good clean and wave goodbye…and hello England, Chester, wedding!!! And finally New York City! I am so excited and can’t wait to say ‘I do’, get on the plane and see NYC. The bit I’m most looking forward to in NYC is afternoon tea at the Plaza hotel, a carriage ride in Central Park and a show on Broadway. We will of course tell you all about it!

Essential Sailing currently has a special offer on: book your holiday before the end of October (holiday to be taken before December 31st) and receive a 25% discount. See for more details.
